Jerusalem Stone
A dry and remote land, the size of 2 football fields. Sitting on a plateau, 760 meters high, surrounded by hills and far from trade routes, with no mineral wealth. Just stones and more stones. That was Jerusalem when founded more than four thousand years ago: a settlement of the Middle East as many others, destined to disappear in the dust of time.
Why did Jerusalem become the most important city in history, a destination searched for and dreamt about by so many people around the world? How did it continue to exist after 2 destructions, 23 sieges and 44 times captured by several people and diverse empires such as the Egyptians, Assyrians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Mamelukes, Turks and British? How did it become the holy city of 3 religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam), and the capital claimed by two nations (Israel and Palestine)? Why was - and in a certain way still is - Jerusalem the centre of the world?

Surprisingly the answer is in the stones. Starting from the Foundation Stone (Even haShetiya in Hebrew), found today inside the Dome of the Rock - the famous golden dome of the postcards. According to the sacred texts, God created the world from it, God tried Abraham by ordering him to sacrifice his only son – Isaac, Solomon built the first Jewish temple, Jesus walked there before being crucified, and Muhammad ascended to heaven from there.
Every period has left its mark in the stones used to rebuild the city and in the architecture typical of each generation of builders. Nowadays, using this rosy stone has become more than a custom. All buildings in Jerusalem must be made of this stone by law.
"Jerusalem is the only city that exists twice – in heaven and on earth", writes the British historian Simon Sebag Montefiore in the book, Jerusalem: The Biography. “It became the point of communication between men and God." Jerusalem is the only city, which can be carried everywhere, since its earthy and heavenly sagas are told in the Bible.
Over the centuries, many people have praised the holy character of these stones. It is not surprising – several biblical characters have touched and walked over them, and they have witnessed many historical events.
Guides of thousands of tourist groups that visit Jerusalem every year praise the importance and the mysticism of the Jerusalem stones: "Everything was created here. The Universe was formed by the rocks found on these mountains. The Garden of Eden mentioned in Genesis, the first book of the Bible, is located here. In addition, among these stones Adam, the first human being, wandered aimlessly until God made him sleep in order to create Eve, the first woman, from one of his ribs. Expelled from Paradise, it was in the midst of these mountains that Adam and Eve bred, giving rise to all mankind".
You may or may not believe the guides of Jerusalem, or even in the Bible. You may or may not believe in God. However, even history declares: where lie the Jerusalem stones, mankind has seen its culture begin. Without these mountains, there would be no Judaism, no Christianity, and no Islam. There would be no European, American, Western and Eastern cultures, as we know them today.
Inspired by all these aspects, Jerusalem Stone was designed to trade a range of products made from these stones for all of those who wish to add a special touch when it comes to architecture, decoration and landscaping. Images prove that many people have been using them all over the world, making Jerusalem stones remarkable in several buildings.
